Things to Consider When Selecting a Wedding Venue

Finding the right wedding venue takes a lot of time and research and can often be one of the hardest parts of planning a wedding. You need to make sure that your venue ticks all the right boxes before you make a final decision.
Your venue will influence your budget as well as the atmosphere on the day so before you sign on the dotted line, below are three important things to consider before you decide on your wedding venue.
  1. Venue size. Look at how many people you’re planning to invite to your wedding versus the number of people the venue can comfortably cater for. A crowded reception can be quite uncomfortable and if a venue is too large, it can affect the atmosphere and the overall look and feel. Put an initial guest list together before you start venue shopping so that you can make a better decision.
  2. What about the drinks? Alcohol and drinks are a big part of your wedding so it’s important to find out whether you can bring your own alcohol and what the costs are or if the venue will supply the drinks. Since you will also need a licensed bartender to serve alcohol, find out whether the venue can assist with this so that you can factor those costs into your final budget.
  3. Preferred vendors. You’re going to be working with several different vendors in the time leading up to and on your wedding day. Many venues require you to use their vendors so find out about this before you make a booking. If they do work with specific vendors, make sure that you’re happy with their experience, style, personality, and pricing. When a venue works with preferred vendors, it does mean they’re confident in their experience and ability to delivery but it’s more important for you to choose vendors that fit in with your budget and overall preferences.
There are many different factors to consider when choosing the perfect wedding venue but make sure that it’s a space that speaks to your personalities and style as a couple.

I appreciate that you talked about thinking about the number of people that we will invite compared to the number of people the event space can cater to. I will share this information with my sister so that she will be sure that her special day will be perfect. It will definitely be a great experience if the reception will not be crowded as well.

You made an interesting point when you mentioned that the wedding venue you pick can influence your budget. I would think that it would be a good idea to make sure that you visit the venue in person before you settle on a budget. I would think that seeing the budget in person can help you decide on what kind of things you are going to need to purchase.

My best friend got engaged to her boyfriend last weekend, and they want to book a venue as soon as possible. Thanks for mentioning how you can make the decision of a venue easier by creating a guest list. I'll have my friends work on a guest list this week so they can book the perfect venue for their wedding in June.

Thank you for explaining how you should look at the size of the venue. I've been wondering what kind of criteria I should be looking at for the venue for my wedding next year. I'll be sure to take a look at my guest list and see about keeping that in mind while I look at my options.

It really helped when you said that we should already have a guest list ready so that we can decide on the right size of wedding venue we need. My partner and I just got engaged earlier this year. And we can start planning on our wedding by booking a place first so that we can get it out of the way, especially when it is one of the biggest parts of the event.

I loved how you said to find a vendor with a style you like! My sister's wedding is in June, so she asked me last week to help her find a venue for the ceremony and reception, and I wanted to make sure I knew how to find a good one for her perfect day. I'll keep these tips in mind as I search for a venue for my sister's wedding!

Being a bridesmaid for my best friend, I am conducting my own research to assist her in planning her wedding. I appreciate that you mentioned taking drinks and alcohol into account while choosing the location. I had not considered the possibility that certain locations would provide drinks in lieu of our own. If they already have a bar, this would help with saving a few dollars on booze and drinks. I'll have to discuss this with a friend and look them out online!

My son is going to be getting married, but he's not sure how to plan it. It makes sense that he could benefit from getting a good wedding venue. I'll be sure to find a venue that can help me out with this.

I love how you talk about considering how many people a venue can comfortably cater to so you don't overcrowd the place or your guests. I have a friend getting married in the next few months and they're currently hunting for a venue to host the day at. We'll have to ensure the place they pick is big enough for all the planned guests.
